Loren's Badass Chick

Get ready: this week's Badass Chick is Noelle Lambert and her story is going to blow you away.

Noelle, a UMass-Lowell lacrosse player, was vacationing on Martha's Vineyard a few years ago when she was involved in a moped accident. Her leg was amputated above the knee and Noelle immediately began her recovery. A month after the accident, she started her sophomore year by taking classes online and commuting 45 minutes each way just to be on the sidelines at every single lacrosse practice. She didn't want to let her team down, even if she couldn't play.

Noelle worked with coaches to re-learn how to run on her prosthetic blade and get back in shape for lacrosse season. In fact, by the time she began practicing again with the team, she was in better physical shape than she had ever been before her accident. Noelle pushed herself harder than she ever had before, finished out her college athlete career and competed in her first-ever para-athlete track meet, where she beat the top US female in that class to take home the top spot. To top if off, Noelle also created The Born to Run Foundation, which provides prosthetics to other young athletes.

Right now, Noelle is in Dubai competing for a spot on Team USA's Paralympic roster. Meanwhile, a bunch of athletes are going to be running this weekend to raise money for The Born to Run Foundation at the Genesis Battlegreen Run. Noelle is a shining example of triumph and we wish her the best of luck in Dubai!
