This week's Badass Chick might be someone you recognize: it's NBC 10 Boston's Natasha Verma!

Natasha's story is pretty amazing. Here's a quick rundown: she graduated high school at 15, graduated college at 18 and received her Masters from Columbia at 19. (You impressed yet?!) She became a journalist and eventually ended up here in Boston. Last summer, at the age of just 23, she discovered a lump in her collarbone and was feeling a strange pain in her arm. The first doctor she went to wrote it off (you're too young and too healthy, they said) but she kept listening to her body and later went to the ER. Despite that doctor also thinking Natasha was over-reacting, Natasha kept pushing to get imaging done and eventually it was discovered that she had Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Natasha immediately started chemo and that forced her to put her career on hold for six months, which was the last thing she wanted to do. While fighting for her life, Natasha lost her hair and had a very difficult time finding wigs that were comfortable to her, until one day she found comfort puting a baseball cap over her wig and thought -- why isn't this a thing? So, she made it a thing. Natasha created Put a Cap on Cancer which offers ball caps with built-in wigs, made of 100% real hair and lined with a super soft fabric to make it as comfortable as possible. The best part? She gives them to cancer patients for free. Earlier this week Natasha announced her first-ever fundraiser, the Verma Foundation Capwalk (get it?!). It's a fashion show with models who are cancer fighters and survivors, escorted by celebrity guests and Boston athletes.  It's taking place in September and tickets are already on sale, so you won't want to miss it.

Natasha is in remission and back at work and, get this -- thankful to have had cancer. It's shifted her priorities and taught her that work isn't always the most important thing. Natasha's whole story is incredibly inspiring and I absolutely love that she's using her platform to help others just like her!
