This week's Badass Chick is singer Jamie Hart

Jamie grew up in a small New Hampshire town and despite having an interest in music, she hid her singing voice from friends and family until she was 14. Her very first audition was for a school musical and she did quite well; she ended up nabbing the lead! From there, she took voice lessons and focused on opera, because it was a great way for her to bridge art and intellect.

As she grew up, Jamie threw herself into her music: she put out three albums, toured the US and even began teaching at Berklee. But by 2017 she felt burnt out, and stopped making music all together because nothing was feeling authentic anymore. So, Jaime went to therapy, found a way to take the pressure off of herself, and decided to start again, step by step. Jamie began journaling and eventually turned those thoughts into music. After a name change to update her brand (she was formerly known as Jamie Lynn Hart), she's back to following her passion of creating music, and is feeling much more authentic about it. She wants to send the message in her music that doing the work on yourself is worth it.

Jamie just released a new video for her song Get Closer and is currently working on her EP. To learn more about her music and her journey, head over to her web site.
