Loren's Badass Chick

Duncan Finigan

This week's Badass Chick is Duncan Finigan, a breast cancer fighter who is using her resources to raise money for research.

Duncan was the very first employee hired at OOFOS footwear seven years ago, and four years ago she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. It is considered a non-curable, but treatable cancer that is considered terminal today. After learning her diagnosis, her coworkers pulled her aside and asked what they could do to help -- so they created the Project Pink line of footwear, with Duncan leading the charge as the brand leader. In less than four years, they've raised over $170,000 for research at Dana Farber, thanks to 3% of their overall sales going to the cause.

Duncan has a husband and four sons. She works out every single day. She has completed the Pan Mass Challenge for the past 4 years and the Jimmy Fund Walk multiple times. But she never once has asked her doctor how long she has to live. She and her doctor have decided that her responsibility is simply to live her life and allow her medical team to manage her health. And I personally love that she's decided to help on the research front, too. ;)
