Loren's Badass Chick

“Someone once told me not to bite off more than I could chew. I told them I’d rather nibble on greatness than choke on mediocrity.” - Unknown I’ve been through worse. I can get through this throbbing pain, this deep anger, this hurdle. A year ago today I joined the @heartbreakersrun and have become a faster runner and have had more fun than I ever dreamed. I learned how to run in my new leg. I smashed so many goals as a result. My goals aren’t changing. It’s only my path to get to those goals that has taken a detour. Armed with a determination I never thought could get stronger, and your words, love, and support to do so will only make crossing that finish line even sweeter. Day 38 of Boston marathon training is a rest day. I don’t know if I’m cleared to run this year, but until then , my head is staying in the game. #bostonstrong #adriannestrong #bladerunner

This week's Badass Chick is Adrianne Haslet. Adrianne first made headlines as the ballroom dancer who lost her leg during the Marathon Bombings as a spectator. Since then, she's become a global advocate for amputee rights, is a blade runner who has run the Boston Marathon multiple times and continues to be a beacon of hope for so many across the world.

On Saturday, as she was crossing Comm Ave in Back Bay, Adrianne was hit by a car, got thrown into the air and crushed the left side of her body when she landed. She has undergone multiple surgeries -- they rebuilt her shoulder with plates and screws -- and is getting discharged from the hospital tonight. She's going straight to rehab to work on independent living once again, as well as physical therapy, and therapy to treat PTSD.

Adrianne's attitude is incredible. If you don't follow her on Instagram already, you have to. As for her 2019 marathon training, Adrianne's vowed to remain patient in her recovery and even though she's unsure if she'll be cleared to run this year, her head is staying in the game.

We wish nothing but the best, healthiest recovery for Adrianne. What an awesomely Badass Chick.
