This week’s Badass Chick is Amy LaBelle of LaBelle Winery in New Hampshire. Her story is a perfect way to kick off 2018 and inspire you to follow your dreams this year!
Amy had been a corporate lawyer for five years when she walked into a winery and realized “this is what I want to be doing instead.” So, she got started. Amy began by doing her own research. She flew from Boston to California to perfect the art of making wine. She proposed a business plan to five different banks over the course of a year and a half until one finally agreed to finance her dream. All the while, she was working 40+ hours a week as a lawyer, fell in love with a wonderful man, planned a wedding and later gave birth to two boys. But… she never gave up on accomplishing her dream, and 4,083 days after decided that opening a winery was her goal, she cut the ribbon at her grand opening ceremony (yep, almost 12 years later).
Amy’s story is a perfect example of how patience and hard work pays off. Amy literally took it day by day. She did one small thing, each day, to achieve her dream. Now her business is thriving (she sells wholesale, has her winery, operates both a culinary line and a restaurant, and has hosted over 1,000 charitable events in the last five years — and did I mention that she’s started her own charity called Empowering Angels, which helps young, at-risk girls learn entrepreneurial skills? Yep.)… all while being a mom and a wife. She finally quit her corporate job and is living the life she’s dreamed of. Pretty badass if you ask me.
Amy’s hosting a charity gala on February 10th, so if you want to learn more about the gala, her winery and the charities she supports, click here.
