To close out our Breast Cancer Badass Chicks this month, we have Risa Byall.
Risa, a fourth grade teacher, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She attributes much of her success and ability to make it through treatment to the children in her classroom who encouraged her the whole way through. Risa was determined not to leave her kids in the middle of the school year, so she began her chemo treatment and was very honest with her kids. Days where she needed that extra encouragement, they gave it to her… even the day that she took her wig off in class and they told her how beautiful she is with or without her hair.
Now, Risa is six years cancer free, and is a firm believer that attitude is everything — not just your own attitude, but those you surround yourself with.
