This week’s Badass Chick  is Jen Andruzzi, co-founder and executive director of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation (yes, her husband is the former Patriot!).

Over fifteen years ago, Jen and Joe became friends with a kid named CJ Buckley who had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. After his passing in 2003 at the age of 17, Jen and her husband created the CJ Buckley Brain Cancer Research Fund at Boston Children’s Hospital to help other children dealing with the deadly disease. Only a few years after that, her husband Joe was diagnosed with cancer, and they saw even more first-hand than before how crucial it was for families to have support during that treatment.

Together, they co-founded the Joe Andruzzi Foundation which financially helps patients and their families. For the second time, Jen is running in the Boston Marathon to benefit the CJ Buckley Brain Cancer Research Fund. She ran her first marathon in 2016 – and only fully-committed to running it 30 days before the actual event (pretty impressive, right?!?!?!). She’s incredibly strong and I love that she’s dedicated so much of her life to giving back to others.

Jen is hoping to raise $50,000 for her run on Monday and she is very close to her goal. You can check out her fundraising paige here.
