There's a touch of old-school Drake about it.

“It’s been a long time,” Bryson Tiller begins on his new track, “Let Me Explain,” and it’s true. The Louisville, Kentucky, singer hasn’t shared much in the way of original music since releasing his debut studio album T R A P S O U L last October. But in the wee hours between Wednesday (Oct. 12) and Thursday (Oct. 13), he dropped his new track.

The song has a touch of Drake about it, old school Drake that is. “Let Me Explain” has a chill vibe and a strong beat while Tiller’s smooth vocals wax lyrical about a failing relationship he can’t salvage.

Throughout the track, Tiller keeps trying to “explain,” but finds that he can approach his reason, circle it, but never fully articulate it. “Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid to/ Tell me that’s it over, tell me that’s it over/ No, I don’t deserve you, the s— I never told you/ There’s too many things, I can’t look you in the face/ I just grab you by the waist and act like everything’s ok,” he sings.

Perhaps with “Let Me Explain,” Tiller is gearing up to drop something more substantial before 2017 arrives, but as for now it’s nice to hear him return with such force. Listen below.
