Yesterday, it was confirmed that Zayn Malik will be the executive producer for a new NBC series based on his life called Boys. Malik is teaming up with Law & Order creator Dick Wolf and his wife, Noelle Wolf for the series, which will focus on the star’s experience in One Direction.

The show will feature original music and will be “totally integrated on broadcast and digital platforms,” Rolling Stone has learned from Noelle Wolf. “Dick Wolf is a legend,” Malik said in a statement. “The opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome.”

There’s no denying that Simon Cowell was an integral part of 1D’s formation, which is why Malik’s former boss thinks that he should have come to him with the project first. “I do actually believe that when they’ve got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me,” he said. “Nothing surprises me anymore.”
