This week’s Badass Chick is Kelley Twombly of Oxford, the organizer this weekend’s first annual Mom’s Squad Motorcycle Ride for Multiple Sclerosis.
In 2006, Kelley’s mom Debbie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Kelley and her entire family have been fighting non-stop to find a cure for the disease ever since. She’s created Mom’s Squad, and next month they’re participating in the Walk MS: Sturbridge. To help raise funds, Kelley has organized the first annual motorcycle ride which begins in Webster and will go through Rhode Island, Connecticut and back to Webster (followed by a party afterwards!).
Kelley and her husband have been members of the Last Shadows motorcycle club and have participated in many fundraising rides over the years, so Kelley thought, why not turn it around and ask those friends to help fundraise for her cause this time? They are more than happy to help: over 100 riders are expected to attend, and they’re expecting more riders to show up tomorrow.
I love that the mom-of-two who works from home is using any spare time and energy she has to help her mom and others living with the disease, and for that, Kelley is my Badass Chick of the Week!
