This week’s Badass Chick is Jackie Lamont, one of the creators of The Ginormous Climb. Jackie works in the Child Protection Unit of the Suffolk County DA’s office. Over the years, she and her co-workers have helped children who have experienced sexual and/or physical abuse, and Jackie and her peers have created an amazing event to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center, which is a non-profit.
The second-annual #GinormousClimb takes place tomorrow in Copley Square, and participants will be donning super hero capes and climbing 60 floors to the top of the John Hancock Tower in honor of the #BraveKids who have spoken up for themselves. Last year, the #GinormousClimb aimed to raise $20,000; they ended up raising $60,000 (AMAZING!). This year, their goal is $75,000, and they are VERY close to meeting that goal. All of the money raised will go towards programs and services that directly benefit the children.
I love that Jackie and her co-workers are pouring their time into honoring and helping children who are often voiceless in situations of abuse, and we need more Badass Chicks like her!
