Loren’s Badass Chicks: The Lady Project

This week’s Badass Chicks are Julie Sygiel and Sierra Barter, the brains behind The Lady Project. The Lady Project is a community of women who encourage and inspire one another in both their professional careers and their passion projects by sharing experiences and talents.

Upon entering the workforce, Julie and Sierra noticed that a lot of the networking events they went to were filled with a bunch of “old dudes” who couldn’t exactly relate to young females. The girls, who met through a business opportunity, also noticed that many of their girl friends had skills and talents that could be helpful to their other friends. For example: Friend A needed to re-vamp her web site with some new pictures, and Friend B, who had never met Friend A, was a phenomenal photographer. So Sierra and Julie wanted to create a way for all of these women to meet. Hence, The Lady Project was born in Providence, RI.

Two years later, the Lady Project has over 250 members and now has chapters in New Haven and Boston. The members meet every so often over fun things like yoga classes, brunch and drinks (and a portion of the ticket sales for each event goes to charity, which is bonus badassery). The Boston chapter is hosting its first event on Thursday in Central Square, so you should come! (I’m going!!) Click here for more information.

Kudus to Julie and Sierra for having figured out a way for women to come together and encourage and inspire one another by sharing their experiences and talents. They’re my Badass Chicks of the Week!
